Mrs. Edna Alfred Rites Held Monday

Mrs. Edna E. Alfred, 83, of Mineral Wells, died Friday, Nov. 18, following an extended illness.

Born in Lewis County, a daughter of the late Lee and Adeline Gaston Mundell, she was the widow of J.T. Alfred, a member of the Pisgah Methodist Church, and a charter member of the D. of A. Hope Council No. 24 of Pee Wee. Mrs. Alfred spent the greater part of her life in Wirt County, going to Mineral Wells 18 years ago to reside with a daughter.

Survivors include two sons, James L. Alfred, Parkersburg, and Duane Alfred, Marietta, O.; three daughters, Mrs. Roy Smith, with whom she made her home, Mrs. J.W. Ott and Mrs. E.W. Thomas, Parkersburg; one brother, Ernest G. Mundell, Akron, O.; three sisters, Mrs. Nora Norman, Weston, Mrs. Osa Andrick, Parkersburg, and Grace Mundell of Clarksburg; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded, in death by one sister, Mrs. Dale Young, and by one grandchild.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Pisgah Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Higgins officiating. Burial was in the Pisgah Cemetery. The Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, was in charge of the arrangements.
