Woodyard E. (Wood) Byrd, 60, of Lansing, Mich., died Wednesday, Sept. 12, at his home.
He was born in Elizabeth in May, 1902, a son of the late Robert Amos and Flora Woodyard Byrd, and lived here during his early life. He moved to Parkersburg, later to Wheeling, and finally to Lansing, being employed as a salesman.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Hays Byrd, of Lansing; one son, Second Lieutenant Richard H. Byrd, stationed with the U.S. Army at Cologne, Germany; and one sister, Mrs. Robert H. (Virginia) Maser, City.
One sister, Ruth Higgins, and one brother, Robert H. Byrd, preceded him in death.
Funeral services and burial were held in Lansing Monday.
