Rites Held Monday For C. A. Barnett

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg for Charles Amos Barnett, aged 81, of Limestone Hill, near Rockport, who died Thursday night, February 3, in the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born at Rockport, and resided just across the highway (Rt. 21) from the Wirt County line, where he operated a general store for 43 years, and he and his wife had a wide circle of friends in both Wood and Wirt Counties. He was a charter member of the Jr.O.U.A.M.

He was a son of the late Amos C. and Amelia Armstrong Barnett, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Parkersburg, Mt. Olivet Lodge No. 3, A. F. & A. M., the Scottish Rite, and Nemesis Temple.

Mr. Barnett had served for four years as a member of the Wood County Selective Service Board, and was a former Chairman of the Wood County Democratic Executive Commuttee.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Georgia Barnett; two daughters, Mrs. John A. Cronwell of Newark, Deleware, and Mrs. Mervin St. Clair, Parkersburg one sister, Mrs. Leatha Roberts, of Nowata, Okla.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Interment was an the Mt. Olivet Cemetery an Parkersburg. The officiating ministers were the Rev's. Ramond Gimmi, William E. Brammer and Mrs. Charles Wilkinson.
