Charles G. Gordon

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pomroy Funeral Home, City, for Charles Gordon, 55, Rt. 2, Palestine, who was found dead in his home Wednesday, Nov. 20.

The Rev. Ezra Higgins officiated, and burial was in the Center Valley Methodist Church Cemetery.

Gordon, a blind veteran of World War II, was found dead in his bed about 7:30 p.m. by Wirt County Sheriff Ira Lockhart, who had been called by a neighbor, Roy Hill. He was last seen alive about 11 a.m. Wednesday.

A 20 gauge shotgun was found near the bed.

Gordon was born in Parkersburg, son of the late Charles G. and Mary Eugenia Simpson Gordon. He had lived with foster parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom Dennis, Rt. 2, Palestine.

Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Edward Dorgan, Long Island City, N.Y., Mrs. Laura Cavanaugh, and Miss Harriet Gordon, both of Washington, D.C.

One brother, Walter, preceded him in death.
