Rites Held Yesterday For Floyd Gabbert

Floyd Gabbert, 69, 608 Wilbur St., Parkersburg died in his residence Sunday morning, October 18, after an extended illness.

Born in Wirt County, he was the son of the late Abraham and Caroline Tucker Gabbert and lived his early life in Wirt county before moving to Parkersburg where he worked as a carpenter. He was a member of the Lauckport United Methodist Church and of Local 899 Carpenters Union.

Survivors include his wife, Clara Carpenter Gabbert; one daughter, Mrs. Wanda Rockhold, Greenville, Pa.; one son, Harold Gabbert, Parkersburg; one step-son, Jack Carpenter, Belpre; four step-daughters, Mrs. Virginia Sinnett, Mrs. Geneva Johnson, Mrs. Janet Richardson, and Mrs. Betty Martin, all of Belpre; and seven grandchildren; two brothers, Emory Gabbert, West Union, and Edward Gabbert, Parkersburg; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Trippett, Parkersburg, Mrs. Hazel Dye, Marietta, Mrs. Rosa LaRue, Elizabeth, and Mrs. Evelyn Anthony, Parkersburg.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Caroline Tribett.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Spencer Funeral Home, Belpre, with the Rev. Ervin Conner officiating and burial was in the Clover Cemetery, near Spencer, W.Va.
