Rites Today For James H. Givens

James H. Givens, 49, of Leroy, Wirt County, died in Camden Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, early Tuesday, September 1, 1970, where he had been a medical patient for a few days, then had undergone surgery the day before he passed away.

He was born March 15, 1921, in Raleigh County, W. Va., son of the late James and Nora McVey Givens.

Primarily a progressive farmer, he had done some outside work on construction. Jimmy, always with a pleasant smile and cheerful disposition, yet a rather quiet personality, had a wide host of friends. He was a member of the Center Valley United Methodist Church, where he served as Sunday School superintendent. He was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Donna Mae Brown Givens; two sons, Hugh and Edwin Givens, both at home; a sister, Mrs. Russell R. Kittle, of Chula Vista, Calif.; and a half-sister, Mrs. Denzil Enoch, of Ravenna, O.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Center Valley U.M. Church with the Rev. Paul Higgins, assisted by the Rev. C.D. Harris, officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Kimes Funeral Home, of Parkersburg, was in charge of the arrangements.
