R. B. Griffin Death Follows Long Illness

Reese B. Griffin, 70, of State Rt. 5, near Burning Springs, died Friday morning, July 10, following an illness of several weeks duration.

Born in Oka, Calhoun County, he was a son of the late G. W. and Millie Varney Griffin.

Mr. Griffin, a retired farmer, was also prominently known for his honest dealings and fair considerations as a saw mill operator, seller of lumber and timberman in Calhoun and Wirt Counties for the past several years. With a quiet and very pleasant personality, he had acquired a wide host of friends since coming to Wirt County some years ago.

He was a member of the Minora I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 246, and of the Oka United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alice Lloyd Griffin; three sons, Ralph, of Burning Springs, Glen, of Akron, O., and Bufford Griffin, of Canal Fulton, O.; three daughters, Mrs. Paul (Verda) Bush, of Millstone, Mrs. William (Donna) Chambers, and Mrs. Eugene (Eloise) Wayne, both of Louisville, Ky.; one sister, Mrs. Victoria Anderson, of Spencer; and 12 grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Oka United Methodist Church in Calhoun County by the Rev. Paul Higgins, and interment was in the Cottrill Cemetery at Oka. Stump Funeral Home of Grantsville was in charge of the arrangements.
