Walker Morgan Is Crash Victim On State Rt. 2

Death on the highway, Rt. 2, near Parkersburg, claimed a native Wirt County man, Felix Walker Morgan, age 78, of Mineral Wells.

He had been staying with a niece at Lubeck a few days while his wife was a hospital patient, and near noon Tuesday, Nov. 5, he drove to Mineral Wells to vote. Enroute back to Lubeck about 1 p.m. his 1950 Ford and a tractor-trailer owed by Bell Lines, Inc., figured in a head-on collision.

He was born in Wirt County January 31, 1890, a son of the late Elisha and Susan Tancary Morgan.

He was a former school teacher for 28 years, and was retired from employment at the American Viscose Corporation, Parkersburg. He was a member of Big Tygart Methodist Church, and was a veteran of World War I.

For quite some time in recent years, he and his wife had spent most of their time at the home of Mrs. Morgan's parents, Mrs. Fannie Vandal and the late Leander (Jess) Vandal at the Vandal home on Garfield Road prior to Mr. Vandal's death at the age of 101 last April 21.

Mr. Morgan is survived by his widow, Mrs. Cecile Grace Vandal Morgan; one nephew, Arlie Morgan of Granite City, Ill., and one niece, Mrs. James Singleton, also of Granite City.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Scott Morgan, and one sister, Sally Campbell.

The body is at Pomroy Funeral Home, City, where friends may call until late Friday morning.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. tomorrow (Friday) at the Center Valley Methodist Church, with the Rev. Noble L. Crew, a nephew, of Dunbar, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
