Mrs. Seaman Dies in Norfolk At Age of 101

Mrs. Rebecca (Aunt Becky) Seaman, well known and highly respected former Palestine Resident, who spent 95 years of her life in Wirt County, died at the age of 101 years in the Depaul Hospital, Norfolk, Va., Monday morning, October 15. She had remained in fair health although failing somewhat physically, until this year. She had made her home with a nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sheppard, 8000 Ardmore Road, Norfolk, for the past six years.

She was born December 20, 1881, in Wirt County, a daughter of the late Hite and Margaret Walker Sheppard, and was a member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church.

She was the last surviving member of her family, and was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. In addition to Lloyd, she is survived by a number of other nephews and nieces.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock this afternoon (Thursday) at the Pomroy Funeral Home Chapel, City, with the Rev. Amos B. McVey, Jr., of Belmont officiating, and in interment was in the Pisgah Cemetery in Reedy District.
