Bob Blankenship Death August 8

William Robert Blankenship, 65, of Creston, Wirt County, died at his residence on Friday, August 8, 1980.

He was born at Creston June 20, 1915, a son of the late James A. and Ella Park Blankenship.

A popular, patriotic and fun-loving man, he was a veteran of World War II, having served with the AAA 82nd Division of Paratroopers in the European Theater, and later served 18 years with the Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion, Post No. 15, of Parkersburg.

He is survived by three brothers, Baseil B. and George N. Blankenship, both of Waverly, and James A. Blankenship, of Akron, O.; three sisters, Mildred Lynch, with whom he resided, and Emma Lynch, both of Creston, and Mrs. Lou Owens, of Parkersburg; and by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a half-sister.

The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Mount Pleasant (Ground Hog) Church in Wirt County, with the Rev. Nor[?] [?]ennett officiating. Interment was in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Pomroy Funeral Home, City, was in charge of the arrangements.
