Rites Held For Harry L. Bibbee

Harry Leroy Bibbee, 74, a popular Wirt County resident of Rt. 3, City, died Friday, February 27, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg following a lengthy illness.

He was born July 10, 1901, in Wirt County, a son of the late Richard and Carrie Meredith Bibbee.

Formerly an automotive mechanic in Elizabeth, he later worked as a mechanic for a number of years for Dills Ford garage in Parkersburg, later was employed by Parkersburg Rig and Reel Co. for 23 years, retiring in 1963.

Always helpful with his neighbors and in community affairs, he was among the leaders in the renovation of the old cabin at Camp Barbe and in the construction of other buildings there. He had also been active in Beulah Hill community affairs. He was a member of the Elizabeth United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Harry Bibbee, Jr., of Parkersburg, and Richard Bibbee of Rt. 3, City; a brother Dennis Bibbee, of Canton, O.; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Coplin, of Palestine; a half-brother, Evan Pomroy, of Barlow, O.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Ica Kerns Bibbee, in 1972, and by a brother.

Funeral services were conducted at the Pomroy Funeral Home, City, at 11 a.m. Monday, with the Rev. and Mrs. Charles Wilkinson officiating, and interment was in the Elizabeth K. of P. Cemetery.
