Samuel T. (Did) Tanner

Samuel T. (Did) Tanner, 88, Rt. 1, Palestine, Wirt county, died at 6:50 p.m., Monday, March 4, in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was a member of Hill Grove Baptist Church and JOUAM [Jr.O.U.A.M.] Council No. 33 at Palestine.

He was born July 15, 1875, in Wirt county, and spent all his life here. His wife, Ella Tanner, and a daughter, Lillian Hanna, preceded him in death.

Surviving are four sons, Burton Tanner, Elizabeth, Pa., Olen, Tanner, Pensacola, Fla., Glen Tanner, Rt. 1, Palestine, and Howard Tanner of Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Hazel Turner, Parkersburg; 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday (Mar. 8) at the Hill Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. K.T. Board, now of Parkersburg, will officiate, and prior to interment in the church cemetery, members of Jr.O.U.A.M. Council No. 33 will conduct graveside rites.

The body remains at Pomroy Funeral Home, City, where friends may call until noon Friday when the body will be taken to the church.
