Denzil Austin Smith

Denzil Austin Smith, aged 58, resident of Route 3, City, died at 6:15 a.m. Easter Sunday, April 18, 1954, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg, following an illness of several weeks.

A son of James L. (Lee) Smith, City, and the late Jenny Pomroy Smith, he was born in Wirt County April 24, 1895. He married Garnet Meredith on January 10, 1917. He was an employee of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad for more than 30 years, and was a member of the Elizabeth Methodist Church and of the Brotherhood Maintenance of Way organization.

Survivors besides his father and wife include: his step-mother, Mrs. Fannie Smith; two daughters, Mrs. John J. (Anna) Pavlick, now living in Japan, and Mrs. Frank T. (Eleanor) Amos, of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Virgil E. Smith, City, and Walter Smith of Winfield; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted from the Elizabeth Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, the Rev. George W. McCune, pastor officiating, and interment was in the local K. of P. Cemetery. Pomroy Funeral Home, City, was in charge of arrangements.
