John A. Siers Dies at Age of 97

John Allen Siers, 97, Rt. 1, City, died in the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital Sunday, Oct. 6, following a short illness.

He was born Aug. 28, 1866, in Calhoun county, a son of the late Elijah and Missouri Arnold Siers, and had been a farmer in Windy, Wirt county, since 1920. He was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Emory Siers, Hanoverton, O., W.L. Siers, Lisbon, O., E.L. Siers, Akron, O., and Holly Siers, Rt. 1, City; a daughter, Mrs. Nora Schoolcraft, Akron; a brother, Albert Siers, Spencer; a sister, Mrs. Saphrona Bailey, Beach, W. 19 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and two sons.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the McCray Funeral Home, City, with the Rev. Vairl Winter officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Moriah Baptist Cemetery.
