Orde C. Starcher, 78, of 4310 14th Ave., Parkersburg, died Thursday, January 10, at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Marshall J. and Margaret Blake Starcher. He had been a farmer, was retired from the Cleveland Tar & Distilling Co. after 15 years service, and also operated Starcher's Grocery at Mount Zion, Calhoun County, for five years. He attended the United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Cremo Lodge No. 202 Knights of Pythias, in Calhoun County.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie Husk Starcher; two daughters, Mrs. Murlene Coon, of Mount Zion, and Mrs. Wanda Kerby, of Rt. 2, Elizabeth; a foster daughter, two brothers, five sisters, ten grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, and infant daughter, two brothers, a sister, and a granddaughter.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the 14th Ave. Gospel Mission, with the Rev. Raymond Ray and the Rev. Hayward Gribble officiating, and burial was in the Sunset Memory Gardens. Franklin & Son Memorial Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
