Mrs. Mary Gilbert (1960)

Mrs. Mary Gilbert, 80, died Friday, Feb 5, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Opal Conley, Rt. 3, City.

Born September 21, 1879, in Wirt County, she was a daughter of the late Peter L. and Harriet Wilson Martin.

She was a member of the Central Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to her daughter, she is survived by three sons, Charley Gilbert, Rt. 3, City, Delmer Gilbert of Parkersburg, and Clarence Gilbert of Belpre, O.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Lew Mitcher, Rt. 1, City; three step-sons, Edgar Gilbert of West Liberty, W. Va., Harry Gilbert, of Central Hill Community, Wirt County, and William Gilbert of Mineral Wells; two brothers, Charley Martin, City, and James Martin, Parkersburg; one sister, Mrs. Nettie Martin Davis, of Parkersburg; and 19 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Gilbert, on Nov. 22, 1930. Also preceding her in death were one son, two brothers and two half-brothers.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Central Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roland miller of Parkersburg and the Rev. Gaylord B. Van Horn, City, officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Pomroy Funeral Home, City.
