Raymond Bell Of Weirton Dies

Raymond M. Bell, 76, Box 101 Cove Station, Weirton, W. Va., died Sunday, May 5, at a hospital there after suffering a heart attack Saturday afternoon.

Born in Wirt County August 25, 1897, he was the son of the late Frank and Ninnie Fluharty Bell. He did farm and oil field work during the early part of his life, then went to Weirton and was employed by Weirton Steel Co., from which he was retired in 1962.

He was active in the work and services of the Salvation Army in Weirton. He and his wife bought a farm near Indian Low Gap a few years ago, and had greatly enjoyed spending periods of time here each year.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Valentine Bell; three sons, Charles and Ralph Bell of Weirton, and Eugene Bell of Pennsylvania; three daughters, Hilda Lavender, Florence Whittington and Nellie Mae Keenan, all of Weirton; 16 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert (Bob) Bell, of Ohio.

Funeral services were conducted at the Salvation Army Chapel, Cove Road, Weirton, Wednesday, May 8, at 1 p.m., with Major Carl Scott officiating. Interment was in Three Springs Cemetery at Weirton. The Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home of Weirton was in charge of the arrangements.

Local area relatives who attended the services in Weirton last week included Mrs. Clover Bell, Mr. and Mrs. Luke Layfield, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Morris, Sharon Hutchinson, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bell, Dorothy Ash and son, Jerry, Martha Hardbarger, Thelma Null and Pete Valentine.
