Rites Yesterday For Mrs. Mary Murray

Mrs. Mary Lightner Murray, 87, of Route 1, City, died Monday morning, October 7, in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.

Born November 2, 1880, in Wirt County, she was a daughter of the late John and Adeline Williamson Lightner. She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church at Morristown and of the Daughters of America, Laurel Council No. 51, of Palestine.

Survivors include one son, Cecil Murray, Route 1, City; one daughter, Mrs. Rhoda Daugherty, of Chester; one sister, Mrs. Martha Tanner, Rt. 1 City; 13 grandchildren, and 49 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E.O. Murray, and five brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bethel United Methodist Church at Morriston with the Rev. Gail Ruble officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery. Pomroy Funeral Home, City, was in charge of the arrangements.
