Mrs. Effie Allen Services Monday

Mrs. Effie Mae Allen, 83, of Route 1, Coolville, O., died at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital Friday, August 4.

She was born in Roane County, daughter of the late Addie and Mahala Wright Lucas. She was popularly known in sections of Wirt County, having visited here many times in recent years.

She is survived by seven sons, Bernard Hughes, Jeff and Orville Allen, Eastlake O., Virgil Hughes, Orris and Carl Allen, Parkersburg, and Dennis Allen, Rt. 3, Elizabeth; two daughters, Mrs. June Mullen, Coolville, and Mrs. Frances Lyons, Eastlake; a brother, Paul Lucas, Parkersburg; three sisters, Mrs. Fannie Snyder, Mrs. Ruth Allman and Mrs. Mabel Eddy, of Parkersburg; 27 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Marty Hughes, in 1918; her second husband, Darley Allen, in 1967; and by a son, a daughter, two brothers and a sister.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Billy Cole officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Memory Gardens.
