Fred Andrick Dies Suddenly

Freddie Guy Andrick, 68, lifelong prominent farmer of the Rt. Reedy section of Wirt County, died suddenly about 4 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, at his home, Rt. 2, Palestine. He had been in poor health for several months, but had not been especially ill recently, and had attended a lodge meeting at Peewee Monday evening.

He had retired from active farming only in recent months, and had built a nice new home near the Mt. Pisgah Church, where he and Mrs. Andrick had moved about two months ago.

Born in Wirt County Jan. 10, 1891, he was a son of the late David P. and Nancy Bumgarner Andrick.

He was a veteran of World War I and had served overseas in France, and was a member of Wirt Post No. 55, The American Legion, City. He was a member of Peewee Council No. 173, Jr.O.U.A.M. Becoming a member of the Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church at an early age, he had been a lifelong active church worker, having served as superintendent of the Sunday School for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruth Somerville Andrick; two sons, Preston Andrick, Rt. 2, Palestine, and Leo Andrick, Roanoke, Va.; one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Lucy) Sullivan, of Milton, W.Va., three grandchildren; two brothers, Emmett C. Andrick, of Elizabeth, and Harry G. Andrick, Rt. 2, Palestine; and two sisters, Mrs. Ada Kittle, of Sandyville, and Mrs. Anna Jones, of Winter Park, Fla.

The body was returned from McCray Funeral Home, City, to the residence at four o'clock Wednesday afternoon, where it remained until 1 p.m. Thursday when it was taken to the Mt. Pisgah Methodist Church to lie in state for one hour prior to the 2 p.m. memorial services, conducted by the church minister, the Rev. S.A. Scott, of Palestine. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
