H. L. Moncrief Dies in Georgia

Harley Lloyd Moncrief, 80, of Atlanta, Ga., former Wirt County resident, died at the Atlanta Health Care Center Monday.

He was born in Wirt County, son of the late Walter and Vallie Brown Moncrief. He resided in Wirt County early in life, was an employee at the Pentagon in Washington for a number of years, was a member of the Center Valley U.M. Church and is a veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War I.

He is survived by a number of cousins, including Roscoe Moncrief of Parkersburg.

Funeral service; will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Pomeroy Funeral Home Chapel in Elizabeth, with the Rev. Ezra Higgins officiating. Burial will be in the Center Valley U.M. Church cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
