Chester G. Moncrief

Chester G. Moncrief, 87, died Sunday, Sept. 20, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Walter Jonas, 1405 16th St., Parkersburg, where he had made his home the past few years.

Born in Jackson County July 23, 1872, he was a son of the late Joseph and Sarah Lewis Moncrief. He was a member of Lynn St. Church of Christ, and had been employed by the Vitrolite Co. and the B. & O. Railroad as a blacksmith before retiring 29 years ago.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jonas, and Mrs. William C. Daugherty, Daytona Beach, Fla.; three brothers, Fred Moncrief of Cleveland, E.F. Moncrief of Peewee, and Neal Moncrief of Sandyville; one sister, Mrs. Alice Brown, Parkersburg; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Zonie Burdette Moncrief, one son, one daughter, two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Franklin Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Evangelists C.D. Beagle and Ross Swindler officiating. Interment was in the Center Valley Cemetery in Wirt County.
