Rev. Ross H. McCoy

The Rev. Ross H. McCoy, 57, of 1525 Rushley Lane, Apt. 219, Akron 6, Ohio, died suddenly Sunday evening, Sept. 28, in Akron.

H was a former pastor of the Two Ripple Baptist Church, and was a farmer and former truckman of Route 4, City. He had been a resident of Akron for the past six years, and was employed by the Direct Transportation Co., doing both driving and carpentry work. He had served as a truckmaster in the C.C.C. camp located at Elizabeth during the 1930's.

He was born at Waynesville, in Nicholas County, on November 12, 1900, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McCoy, and was a Veteran of World War II. He held continuous membership in local Post No. 5775, Veterans of Foreign Wars, since its charter organization in March of 1946.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Strahan McCoy; one daughter, Mrs. Luennis (Elodene) Robinson, of Baltimore, Md.; two sons, Edward Leon McCoy and Thomas R. McCoy, both of Akron; two sisters, Mrs. Hettie Long and Mrs. Mida Harnest, both of Collindale, Pa.; his step-mother, Mrs. Anna Clendenin McCoy, of Richwood; and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Two Ripple Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ezra Higgins and the Rev. H.L. Short officiating. Interment was in the K. of P. Cemetery here. Arrangements were in the charge of the McCray Funeral Home, City.
