William F. McVey
William F. McVey, 79, who for the past several years had made his home with a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Corbitt of Mineral Wells, died Saturday, August 31, at 10:20 p.m. in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 7, 1883, in Wirt county, son of Jehu and Mary Hill McVey, and was a member of the Center Valley Methodist Church and the Junior Order of the United American Mechanics Council No. 173 at Peewee, Wirt county. He had engaged in farming.
Survivors include two sons, Doral McVey, Palestine, and Fred McVey, Parkersburg; two daughters, Mrs. Edith Carder, Mineral Wells, and Mrs. Bernice Corbitt, Mineral Wells, where he had been residing; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Sheppard, Vienna, and Mrs. Lydia Moncrief, Parkersburg; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
His wife, Mrs. Flora Lockhart McVey, died in 1956.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m., at the Center Valley Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lehman Channell of Mineral Wells officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, with the Jr. OUAM conducting graveside rites.
Pomroy Funeral Home, City, was in charge of arrangements.
