James W. McVey

Funeral services for James W. McVey, 74, Leroy farmer, were held Thursday afternoon from the Center Valley Methodist Church with the Rev. Leonard Crew officiating, and burial was in the church cemetery. The Vail undertakers of Ripley were in charge.

Mr. McVey died at his home at Leroy on Tuesday, May 31, after a short illness.

He was born in Wirt County Apr. 21, 1881, son of the late John and Mary Hill McVey. He was a member of the Leroy Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Lloyd McVey, of Sandyville, and Cecil McVey of Leroy; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Smith, of Sandyville; five brothers, H. McVey of Leroy, E.T. McVey of Liverpool, Thomas, of Vienna, Amos of Palestine, and William McVey, of Leroy; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Sheppard of Vienna, and Mrs. Lydia Moncrief of Leroy; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
