Mrs. Clara Roberts

Mrs. Clarissa H. (Clara) Roberts, aged 77, of 5008 3rd Ave., Parkersburg, died at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital there Friday morning, Mar. 7, following an extended illness.

She was a member of the Lightners Memorial Church in Edgelawn, Parkersburg, and was preceded in death by her husband Charles H. Roberts, about 20 years ago.

She was born April 12, 1880, in Roane County, the daughter of the late Samuel and Lillie Riddle.

The Roberts family resided for many years on Somerville Fork of Wirt County; later moved to the Wirt County farm near Elizabeth where he was the farm supervisor for a three-year period about 40 years ago; then they moved to Parkersburg.

Survivors include one son, Gay O. Roberts, Rockport; two daughters, Mrs. Inez Bailey, Rt. 3, City, and Mrs. Rita Rader, Parkersburg; one brother Frank Riddle, Parkersburg; three sisters, Mrs. Eva Stephens, Parkersburg, Mrs. Mattie Tatterson, Rt. 1, Reedy, and Mrs. Lucy Pritchard, Spencer; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death besides her husband, were a daughter and a sister.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Pisgah Methodist Church on Right Reedy, with the Rev. J.H. Life officiating. Burial was in the Pisgah Cemetery. The Vaughan Funeral Home of Parkersburg was in charge of the arrangements.
