Rites Held Sunday At Center Valley For Mrs. Vandal, 96

Mrs. Fannie Fern Vandal, aged 96, of Leroy, Wirt County, died Thursday, January 21, 1971, in the Greenlawn Nursing Home at Vienna.

Born at Fairmont, W. Va., on October 28, 1874, she was a daughter of the late Theopolis and Virginia Harr Nuzum.

Mrs. Vandal was a senior member of the Center Valley Church in Wirt County.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Virginia Crew of Parkersburg, Mrs. Carrie Warren of Waterford, O., and Mrs. Cecile Morgan of Mineral Wells; one sister, Mrs. Edna Kimes, of Sarasota, Fla.; nine grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L. (Jess) Vandal, who lived to be one of the Wirt County’s eldest citizens for several past years, and died at the age of 101 years and four days on April 21, 1968. Mrs. Vandal was also preceded in death by a daughter, Celia.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Center Valley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. C.D. Harris and the Rev. Ray Harris (father and son) officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pomroy Funeral Home, City, was in charge of the arrangements.
