Mrs. Sarah Armstrong (1960)

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth (Lizzy) Armstrong, 82, of Route 3, Parkersburg, died Saturday, May 7, in the Riverview Nursing Home at Vienna, following a long illness.

She was born at Burning Springs, Wirt County, June 22, 1877, a daughter of the late Thomas and Jemima Hanna O'Brien. She was a member of the Pettyville Methodist Church.

Mrs. Armstrong was married to Frank L. Armstrong Feb. 17, 1904, who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Forrest L. Armstrong and E.D. (Darrell) Armstrong, both of Parkersburg; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Townsend, of Spencer; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Frank Armstrong, Jr.; three brothers, Emmett, Robert and William O'Brien; and three sisters, Mrs. Effie Tyson, Mrs. Mattie Cox and Mrs. Nina Griffith.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Chapel of the Pomroy Funeral Home, City, with the Rev. Clifford T. Phillips Methodist minister of Harrisville, officiating. Interment was in the I.O.O.F Cemetery at Parkersburg.
