Earl Cain

Earl Cain, age 88, of 900 Lakeview Drive, Parkersburg, a former friendly and popular long-time resident of Wirt County, died unexpectedly at the Willows Nursing Home in Parkersburg Tuesday morning, July 8.

He was born at Creston, son of the late John and Betty Merrill Cain.

He was a member of the Creston United Methodist Church. In his younger years he worked in the oilfields of the Burning Springs area, and was also a farmer and producer of prize cattle. For several years while a resident of Elizabeth he was a dependable worker doing custom tractor and farm work for area gardeners and farmers.

He is survived by a son, Herbert Cain, of Parkersburg; five daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Neva) Bennett and Eileen Campbell, both of Parkersburg, Mrs. William (Betty) Metz, of Vienna, Mrs. Roland (Emma) Roberts, of Akron, O., and Mrs. Frank (Ollie) Shulte, of Mayo, Fla.; 15 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lelia Greathouse Cain, and by an infant daughter and two grandsons.

The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow (Friday) at the Ogdin Funeral Home in Parkersburg, with the Rev. William E. Calhoun officiating, and interment will follow in the Beatty Cemetery at Burning Springs, Wirt County.
