Services Held For Ella Cain Merrill

Mrs. Ella Cain Merrill, 83, of Rt. 1, Elizabeth, died Thursday, December 28, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg following an extended illness.

She was born in Wirt County September 15, 1895, a daughter of the late George and Sarah Cross Cain.

A very nice lady who was highly regarded among those who knew her, she had resided for 30 years in Fairmont, and returned to Tucker Creek, Wirt County, in 1951. She was a housewife, and was a member of Two Ripple Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. June (Audra W.) Runner, of Rt. 1, Elizabeth; one brother, Ben H. Cain, of Fairmont; two sisters, Mrs. Liza Greathouse, of Parkersburg, and Mrs. Dora Whitecotton, of Fairmont; two grandchildren, Carole Menefee and Jess Runner, both of Elizabeth; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jessie James Merrill, in 1966, and by three brothers.

Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Matheny-Mace Funeral Home, City, with the Rev. Joe Hutchinson officiating, and interment was in the Sayre Cemetery in Wirt County.
