Services Monday for Lawrence V. Lockhart

Lawrence Virgil Lockhart, 67, of Mineral Wells, died Friday, June 10, at the residence of his son after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Wirt County, son of the late Wirt and Almeda Courtney Lockhart.

Mr. Lockhart had been employed at Mountain State Steel Co. for 23 years and had most recently been employed at the United States Postal Service. He attended the Antioch Baptist Church in Wirt County.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Hall Lockhart; five sons, Wirt, Roger, Gary and Wayne, all of Parkersburg, and Clayton, of Walker; one step-son, Roscoe Hall, of Mineral Wells; four daughters, Mrs. Paul (Barbara) Burchard, of Portland, Conn., Mrs. Dennis (Elsie) Horton, of Walker, Mrs. James (Erma) Horton and Mrs. Robert (Marlene) Allman, of Mineral Wells; one brother, Guy, of Parkersburg; six sisters, Ruby McCoy, Bertha McCoy, Inez Gant, Orma Hendershot and Eula Sims, all of Parkersburg, and Clara Green of Grafton; and 43 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons and two sisters.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Franklin and Son Memorial Chapel, and interment followed later that afternoon at the Antioch Cemetery on Lynn Camp in Wirt County.
