Rites Yesterday For Carl E. Davis
Carl Estel Davis, 67, a popular resident of Tucker District, Route 1, Elizabeth, died at his residence Sunday morning, November 25, following an extended illness.
He was born in Wirt County August 26, 1912, a son of the late Worthy and May Porter Davis.
A man with a rather quiet and sincere personality, Carl was a veteran of World War II, an active member of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church, and was retired from the A.B. Chance Company after several years of employment.
He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Albert (Ruby) Burdette and Mrs. Carl (Ruth) Sheets, both of Route 1, Elizabeth.
He was preceded in death by a twin brother, and by his wife, Mrs. Wyoma Hepner Davis.
The funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. yesterday (Wednesday) at the Matheny-Pomroy Funeral Chapel in Elizabeth, with the Rev. James Sheets officiating. Interment was in the Mount Moriah Baptist Church cemetery.
