Services Today In Weston For Mrs. Daisy Bailey (1971)

Mrs. Daisy Davis Bailey, 60, a native Wirt Countian, wife of Roscoe J. Bailey of 844 West 2nd Street, Weston, W. Va., passed away Monday afternoon, January 25, at the West Virginia University Medical Center, Morgantown, following an illness of more than one year.

Born near Elizabeth September 5, 1910, she was a daughter of the late Emory N. and Martha Coe Davis.

Mrs. Bailey was a graduate of Wirt County High School and in the late 1920's and very early 1930's was employed on the printing staff of a local weekly newspaper, the Wirt County Republican, published by the late J.G.B. Coberly. Later, she was graduated from Glenville State College, and was a former elementary school teacher in Lewis County for some seven or eight years until retiring at the end of 1969 because of illness. She was a member of state and national educational associations, and was a member of the Weston Baptist Church, where she had resided for more than 30 years. Her husband has been a long-time educator, both teacher and principal in Lewis County schools.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include one brother, Denver C. Davis, Elkins, W. Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Orcelia) Vaught, of Columbus, O., Miss Ona B. Davis, Palestine Road, City, and Mrs. Charles (Elva) Evans, Mansfield, Ohio; and among a few surviving nieces and nephews are two local girls, Jane and Mary Hogue, who reside with Miss Ona Davis.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Elma Russell Hogue.

Funeral services were scheduled to be conducted at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Floyd Funeral Home at Weston, with the Rev. Charles Jack officiating; and interment in the Rock Grove Cemetery, Weston.
