James Edward Amos

James Edward Amos, 87, of 1813 Clegg St., Parkersburg, died Saturday at his home.

He was born Nov. 8, 1868, in Wood County, a son of the late Fred and Mary Elizabeth Caplinger Amos.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Minnie Bell Amos; by five sons, R.E., Kendall and Melvin of Elizabeth; C.R. of Parkersburg, and W.D. of Brancroft; by four daughters, Mrs, C.C. Dowler and Mrs. N.E. Ward, both of Parkersburg; Mrs. R.J. Heatherly, Torch, Ohio ; Mrs. Harry Knotts; Elizabeth; one brother, S.C. Amos, Elizabeth; one sister, Mrs. Hattie Gilmore, Parkersburg; 23 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Two sons and three daughters preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Limestone Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles R. Wilkinson officiating. Burial was in the Limestone cemetery with Franklin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
