Joseph C. Bumgarner Services Held Tuesday

Joseph Craig Bumgarner, 75, of Palestine, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Camden-Clark Hospital last Saturday morning, Dec. 12. He had been in poor health for a few months.

He was born in Wirt County May 9, 1889, a son of the late Thomas and Lou Hall Bumgarner, and was a member of the Pisgah Methodist Church, and of Council No. 173 Junior Order of United American Mechanics of Palestine.

Survivors include his widow Mrs. Nina Greer Bumgarner; six sons, Roma Bumgarner of Reedy, Hoyt Bumgarner of Vienna, Theodore Bumgarner of Chester, Basil Bumgarner of Leroy, Paul Bumgarner of Ravenswood, and Carroll Bumgarner of Long Beach, Miss.; five daughters, Mrs. Mildred Sellers and Mrs. Ann Thorne of Parkersburg, Mrs. Hazel Karr of Ripley, Mrs. Beulah Cook of Chester, and Mrs. Marie Posey in France.

Also surviving are five brothers, Casper, Burley and William Bumgarner, all of Palestine, and Elmer and Herbert Bumgarner, both of St. Marys; two sisters, Mrs. Nannie Channell, City, and Mrs. Oda Spinnell of Akron, O.; 17 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, from the Pisgah Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul Higgins and the Rev. S.A. Scott officiating. Interment was in the Church Cemetery. Pomroy Funeral Home, City, was in charge of the arrangements.
