Rites Today for Guy Bumgarner (1977)

Funeral services for Guy Bumgarner, aged 58, Reedy, Roane County, who died Sunday, January 9, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa., after a brief illness, were scheduled to be conducted at 2 o'clock today (Thursday) at the Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer.

The Rev. Larry Haught is the officiating clergyman and interment will follow at the Buffalo Cemetery above Mayberry Run in Wirt County.

He was born in Wirt County, a son of the late William and Estella Sims Bumgarner.

Guy, a well-liked man, was a veteran of World War II, and was a carpenter, employed in recent years by Martin (Junior) Atkinson, a prominent Spencer area contractor. He was a member of Construction Union No. 1353 in Charleston.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Hazelene Bumgarner; one daughter, Teresa Ellen Bumgarner, at home; two step-sons, Gary Wade and Douglas Bryan Bumgarner, at home; a step-daughter, Mrs. Cheryl Brannon, of Parkersburg; and four brothers, Scott, of East Liverpool, O., William Robert, of Slate, Wallace, of Mineral Wells, and Woodrow, of Parkersburg.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.
