Rites Yesterday For Nina M. Bumgarner (1980)

Mrs. Nina Mae Bumgarner, 84, of 4308 16th Ave., Parkersburg, a highly respected former Wirt County resident, died at the St. Joseph's Hospital on Sunday, March 23.

She was born at Palestine April 20, 1895, a daughter of the late David T. Greer and Julian Williams Greer Badgett.

An especially well liked and good woman, she had spent much of her life rearing her family on Crane Nest Run, later resided for several years in Palestine, and for the past few years been in Parkersburg. She was a member of the Palestine United Methodist Church, and of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by five sons, Hoyt, of Vienna, Basil, of Leroy, Ted, of Chester, Roma, of Reedy, and Carroll Bumgarner, of Oak Hill; five daughters, Mildred Sellers, Ann Thorne and Hazel Casto, all of Parkersburg, Beulah Cook, of Chester, and Marie Posey, of Georgia; a brother, Clarence Greer, of Parkersburg; a half-brother, Brady Badgett, of Walker; 18 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph C. Bumgarner; and by two sons, five brothers, a sister, and two grandchildren.

The funeral was conducted at 1 p.m. yesterday (Wednesday) at the Pisgah United Methodist Church, Garfield Road, Wirt, County, with the Rev. Amos B. (June) McVey and the Rev. Jeff Winters officiating, and interment was made in the Pisgah Cemetery. Matheny-Pomroy Funeral Home of Elizabeth was in charge of the arrangements.
